Awana Missionaries Mike and Kris Reed

Mike and Kris have been married for 19 years this past May. They were born and lived in Ohio their entire lives before God called them to Kansas to serve Him as Awana missionaries. They have four children: Ben (17), Emily (15), Megan (12) and Katie (11). All four children attend Berean Academy. Before Awana, Mike worked at Nationwide Insurance for 23 years. Kris has been a stay-at-home mom and part-time attorney. Back in Ohio, Kris served in their Awana Club 15 years, first as a Sparks leader and Sparks director, and then as club secretary. Mike served in Awana for 14 years as commander.

They began serving as Awana missionaries in September, 2004. God has shown Himself faithful to their family in so many wonderful ways through being obedient to His calling to full-time service with Awana in Kansas. They are humbled by how God is working through them to share the Awana Ministry with churches in Central and Western Kansas.

Their Mission: To introduce the ministry of Awana to local churches, equipping them to impact their community and the world for Christ. Helping churches to..."Reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him."

Their Passion: To reach children and youth, and their families, with the gospel! In addition to supporting Awana clubs throughout their territory, they are also advocates of children's ministry at the local church level.

They fulfill this role by:
• Proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ
• Advocating children's ministries by being a resource to pastors and church leaders
• Starting, training and supporting local Awana clubs across our territory
• Recruiting, training and mentoring volunteers and lay leaders in local churches
• Providing leadership for running events including AwanaGames™, Sparks-A-Rama and Bible Quizzing

Prayer Requests:
• For the ten churches starting Awana in the fall and that many boys and girls will be reached for Christ
• That God will bring us more volunteers for our ministry team to help us with the many demands in serving Awana clubs across our territory
• For the new Ministry Care program (shepherding/care groups of churches led by ministry team volunteers) launched last year to better serve the Awana clubs across our territory
• Prepearation for the new Commander College 101 field training weekend to be held in Overland Park in on January 25-27, 2008
• For more churches and individuals who will partner with our ministry financially to help us achieve 100% of our needed monthly support
• For growth of Hispanic churches using Awana in our territory
• For traveling mercies as we drive over 20,000 miles for Awana this year across their territory.
